Matcha Ratio Calculator
A standard bowl of matcha is 1-2 g of powder to 60-70 ml of water at 70-80 °C. A matcha latte uses 2 g whisked with 60 ml of water, then 180-240 ml of milk. Choose your style and strength below for exact amounts.
Usucha (standard bowl) · 1 serving
Matcha powder: 1.5 g (about 0.8 level tsp)
Water: 65 ml at 70-80 °C
Sift the powder, make a paste with a splash of water first, then whisk 15-20 seconds.
What to watch out for
Never use boiling water
70-80 °C is the window. Boiling water scorches the powder and is the most common reason matcha tastes bitter.
Sift first
Pushing the powder through a fine strainer removes almost every clump before you add water.
Matcha does not dissolve
It is a suspension, so it needs whisking — a bamboo chasen or an electric frother. A spoon will leave it grainy at the bottom.
