Force depends on stretch, band width, thickness and the rubber compound. Two bands with the same colour from different makers can differ substantially. Treat any conversion as a range, not a measurement.
Bands and dumbbells load differently
A dumbbell is hardest where gravity has most leverage; a band is hardest at full stretch. That is why a band can feel easy at the start of a curl and brutal at the top.
Stack bands to progress
Adding a second band adds its resistance at the same stretch, which is a cleaner way to progress than stretching one band further than it was designed for.

Can resistance bands replace weights?
For most general strength and conditioning goals, yes. For maximal strength training they are harder to load precisely.

Shorten your grip, step wider to increase stretch, or stack a second band.
